Update: Information on Re-opening of County Facilities

In accordance with the Governor's announcement earlier this week lifting many of the COVID-19 restrictions previously in place state-wide, we will be re-opening our Washington County Municipal Center facility main entrance at Building B to our community members for walk-in visitors and transactions beginning this Friday, however we will continue to take appointments and strongly encourage those who wish to plan their visit and needs ahead of time to do so. We will continue working with our County Clerk and her team, following their recommendations, as to the operations of our County Clerk and DMV offices, which will continue to operate by the appointment only system for the time being.

As we re-open our facilities, myself and the members of the Board of Supervisors are proud to welcome the members of our community, our media partners and anyone who wishes to attend, back to our Board of Supervisor's meetings in-person, beginning this Friday at the county Municipal Center in the Board of Supervisor's chambers. We will continue to follow a hybrid model for our board and committee meetings for the time being, providing for remote participation capabilities of our Supervisor's, department heads and other representatives. We will also continue broadcasting those meetings online, increasing the ability of our community members and media to follow along for those who do not have the ability to attend in person, as we have since the onset of the pandemic.

We continue to ask that anyone visiting our facilities be mindful of their health and the health and wellness of our employees and fellow community members and encourage anyone not feeling well to postpone their visit, we cannot forget the measures we've all taken to get back to where we are today! As included in the Governor's announcement, consistent with the State's implementation of the recent CDC guidance, masks are still required for unvaccinated individuals. Additionally the state's health guidelines continue to be in effect for large-scale indoor event venues, Pre-K to grade 12 schools, public transit, homeless shelters, correctional facilities, nursing homes, and health care settings per CDC guidelines.

Our Public Health and EMS Vaccination Team continue to work diligently to ensure every eligible person in our communities wishing to be vaccinated can be vaccinated, we are continuing our community vaccination efforts working with our schools, local community organizations and leaders and local businesses to further expand our vaccination efforts. If you're in search of information or vaccination opportunities, visit our website at washingtoncountyny.gov/coronavirus for more information.

I am proud of Washington County, our residents, our many departments, towns and villages, our schools, our community businesses, organizations and partners, all who have continuously worked together throughout this pandemic, navigating the challenges, helping one another and never forgetting those who have suffered at the hands of COVID-19. We all have taken great strides together and we're looking forward to more as our challenging school year comes to a close, our summer events kick-off and we return to a level of normalcy we haven't seen since early 2020.

May we never forget, where we are today is because of the work of our Public Health and healthcare heroes, our First Responders, essential workers and the many dedicated professionals who worked tirelessly to help end the pandemic and keep our critical services operating in our communities as we progressed throughout the challenges over the last year. We are forever grateful for their dedication, sacrifices and service to Washington County, our communities and us all.

God bless and be safe.
Samuel J. Hall, Chairman
Washington County Board of Supervisors
